Yoga for mental health
Most people know that yoga is good to improve flexibility, balance, strength and that it also tones up the body.
What most people do not know that yoga is extremely beneficial for emotional, psychological and spiritual well being.
Most people who start yoga and if they achieve their physical goals (of having a toned physique or flexibility and balance), actually continue to do it lifelong because they find it beneficial for their mental health.
Yoga for continued mental wellness:
- Yoga helps reduce anxiety, depression, and improves overall mental state
- If stressed and tense, yoga lessen those unhealthy feelings
Yoga improves memory and concentration:
- If yoga is done on a daily basis, a stage soon comes when both memory and concentration remarkably improve
- Ability to recollect things and concentrate gets better
Yoga makes you calm and patient:
- The world we live in is a fast-paced world. If things don’t happen quickly or immediately we get frustrated, discouraged and tend to lose temper. Daily practice of yoga teaches to remain calm and patient
- Yoga makes us realize that it takes time to achieve our goals. Last week we may have not been able to touch or toes, but today it does
- In yoga, things take time to happen; rarely do things happen quickly. And when they indeed happen, you see the benefits as well as realize that things do change and it helps to remain calm and patient
Yoga teaches you to face your fears:
- To improve or move to the next level in life, one has to innovate by trying something new. Not trying anything new based on self-imposed limits or the fear of failing will not help
- When you do yoga, you try a new pose or a balance by challenging our body and mind and stepping outside of the comfort zones. It makes the fear in you go away. If you do it, fine or else you try again, practice
- Yoga is thus a practice to improve your body and mind
Yoga benefits if done regularly. Make yoga a way of life.
