Turmeric and diabetes
In diabetes, adding turmeric in diet is a natural way to lower blood sugar and reversing insulin resistance.
In 2009, a study from Auburn University was published in Biochemistry and Biophysical Research Communications that explored how turmeric can help reverse diabetes.
The study discovered that curcumin in turmeric is 400 times more potent than Metformin (a common diabetes drug) in improving insulin sensitivity which can help reverse type-2 diabetes.
Curcumin in turmeric has also been proven to help reverse many of the issues related to insulin resistance and hyperglycemia.
A study found that supplementing with curcumin can delay diabetic neuropathy and retinopathy, complications of diabetes because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Diabetics should consider slowly adding or increasing turmeric in their diets.
