Tea as an energizing food
Feeling tired in the morning, afternoon or evening? Perhaps you are not eating the right foods. Instead of reaching out to a candy bar or a coffee, one of the foods that can bring energy into you is the tea, (or chai in Hindi).
Eating the right food helps keep your energy levels up in a sustained way, and not like a spike and crash as happens with caffeine and sugar.
Tea (black, white, oolong, and green) contains the aminoacid L-theanine, which provides an alert yet calm state. L-theanine is not contained in coffee.
L-theanine passes through the blood-brain barrier within 30 minutes and has been successfully used for the treatment of anxiety and improved concentration and focus.
Research has also shown that L-theanine can generate creativity and increase the ability to ignore distractions during complex tasks.
As tea contains a bot of caffeine, a little effect of caffeine in the tea is always there.
Of all brewed teas, black tea provides the most caffeine. Just make sure you don’t drink it too close to bedtime – if the caffeine affects your sleep your energy levels will definitely drop.
Also avoid sweetened teas as they can be loaded with sugar and cause an energy crash.
Next time you need to energize yourself, try having a cup of tea.
