Taking care of joints while running
Running or jogging is a part of fitness regime of most.
Almost every runner have had joint pain at some point or the other.
Hence it is important that you keep in mind what it takes to prevent joint pain:
- Keep weight in check as research says that losing about a pound (0.5kg) of weight reduces almost a four pound reduction in knee joint load for each step taken.
- Do not forget to warm up before exercise – this will ensure that you don’t injure yourself.
- After exercise, stretch well, so that your joints and muscles don’t get too sore.
- If injured, do not run or jog – give yourself time to heal.
Injuries to knee increase chances of developing and aggravating osteoarthritis.
