Skin care in winter
However much we take care, the skin tends to dry during winter. Below are some tips that can make skin soft and supple during winter.
- Use oil-based moisturizer instead of water-based so that oil forms a protective layer on the skin and retains moisture on the face
- Moisturize the skin several times in a day by using various body oils or body lotion products containing almond oil, tea tree oil, mineral oil or glycerine
- Apply moisturizer on a moist skin soon after wiping it with a sot towel
- Drink enough water as it keeps skin young and wrinkle-free
- The skin on the hands has fewer oil glands and has thinner skin layer. To avoid the skin of the hand from cracking wear gloves after applying a moisturizer while going out
- Wear socks after applying a moisturizer to avoid cracking of the skin in and around the heels
- The sun during winter season can also damage the skin; use of sunscreen during going out is recommended
- Avoid a hot water bath as it dehydrates; instead take lukewarm water shower
