Sitting long is a risk for kids
We are aware that sitting for long hours is not good for adult health; and hence the often given advice is to be active and not keep sitting.
Now a research by Ali McManus, associate professor of pediatric exercise physiology at the University of British Columbia indicates that children who sit too long may have the same health risks as the adults.
A single session of prolonged inactivity in children developed changes in their blood flow and arteries, that in adults, would signal the start of serious cardiovascular signals.
This study is significant – because according to one epidemiological study, today’s children, across the globe, sit for about 8.5 hours everyday. This study was incidentally done on girls.
