Simple remedies for bad breath
If you are victim of bad breath try the following simple remedies:
Clean your tongue
After brushing your teeth twice daily, clean your tongue either with the brush itself or with a tongue scraper. Many toothbrushes have a tongue scraper on the other side of the bristles. Be gentle on your tongue so that you don’t hurt it.
Drink Green Tea
The antioxidants in green tea are believed to neutralize the sulfur compounds that cause bad breath. Some studies have indicated that the antioxidants in green tea can even protect against cavities in tooth. A study also found that green tea was more effective at fighting bad breath than either mints or gum.
Oil pulling
Oil pulling is rinsing the mouth with a spoonful of oil (sunflower or sesame oil) for a few minutes before spitting it out. It is an Indian folk remedy and getting very popular. A study found that oil pulling to be just as effective as a prescription mouthwash in the treatment of bad breath.
K12 Supplements
Bad breath is partly caused by the presence of stinky bacteria in the mouth. No bacteria no bad breath. K12 may be able to help balance bacteria in the mouth. Streptococcus salivarius K12 is a bacterium itself and has been shown to promote oral health by eliminating the bacteria that cause bad breath. K12 is available in supplement form.
Chew gum
It is not the odor of the chewing gum that improves bad breath. Actually, dry mouth is known to increase the likelihood of bad breath, and chewing gum helps stimulate saliva production; and research has proven this.
