Shopping cart handle dirtier than a toilet

Harmful germs may invade homes in many ways posing health risks.

Experts have warned that groceries shopping cart may host more germs than in your toilet seats.

According to Charles Gerba, microbiologist at the University of Arizona in the US, there are many ways by which microbes are piggybacking on products without the buyer knowing it.

The germ exposure is highest in meat containers where they breed fast.

Gerba said, ‘Among things that host harmful germs are shopping cart handles.’

‘It may be recalled that bulk of the germs is transmitted through hands during the purchase of grocery at the shopping cart handles,’ he said.

Can’t do much about it except wash your hands carefully and also the products or the containers/wraps of the products you intend to consume!
