Pedalling device at desk keeps workers fit
By providing portable pedaling device it is possible to keep workers healthier and more productive. This is achieved by negating the ill-effects of a sedentary lifestyle, a new study from University of Iowa in the US has claimed.
Lucas Carr from the University of Iowa discovered that people who once sat all day at work now moved without getting up.
The study that appeared in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine also found that workers who pedaled more were likelier to report weight loss, fewer sick days and improved concentration than those who pedaled less.
It was also found that workers used the pedal device much longer than they would use a treadmill or an exercise bike in the office as the pedal device offered the much needed privacy.
Exercising with the pedal device has the potential to reduce the risk of serious health conditions like multiple chronic diseases, deteriorating cognitive function and mental distress in sedentary workers.
