No honey for kids under one year
Honey has many benefits and its daily moderate consumption is thought by many a perfect addition to food to achieve good health.
But a word of caution: Honey may contain botulinum endospores that cause infant botulism, a rare but serious type of food poisoning that can result in paralysis.
Even honey that is pasteurized may contain spores of botulinum, and hence most child specialists, for this reason, strongly recommend that infants under one year should avoid consuming honey.
