Mediterranean diet may protect against diabetes

The Mediterranean diet incorporates the basics of healthy eating plus a splash of olive oil and perhaps even a glass of red wine, a eating pattern seen in countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.

A new study has claimed that Mediterranean diet and foods low in available carbohydrates can offer protection against type-2 diabetes.

Researchers Carlo La Vecchia and colleagues, from Mario Negri Institute of Pharmacological Research, Italy, studied 22,295 participants pateints from Greece before concluding the outcome.
