Low fat diet to prevent abdominal fat
All this while we thought that if we had unbalanced diet it could be compensated by physical exercise. But a research done recently shows this is not the case.
The outcome of the research is: Irrespective of the calories consumed and physical activity done, an excessive proportion of fat in the diet leads to greater accumulation of fat in the abdomen.
Accumulation of fat in the abdomen (or abdominal fat) is linked to higher risk of heart attacks and strokes, diabetes, high blood pressure, higher cholesterol levels, etc.
The reserachers worked on a sub-sample of 224 out of the 3500 adolescents who participated and the results confirm the outcome as stated above.
The fats consumed should be in proportion (approximately 30 % of total calories) to prevent accumulation of fat in the abdomen. If it increases more than 30 %, it begins to get accumulated as abdominal fat irrespective of calories consumed and physical activity done.
When do steps to good health begin; maybe during the adolescents.
