Is laughter the best medicine…not really!
Laughter, it is said is best medicine. But a study published in British Medical Journal talks of rare occasions when a hearty laugh can land you in a hospital.
Researchers at University of Birmingham and Oxford University say that uncontrolled laughter can lead to syncope (fainting), arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm) and cardiac rupture.
In asthamatics, it can trigger an attack.
Laughing can cause lungs to collapse and an aneurysm (weak balloon-like spot) in the brain to bleed causing brain hemorrhage.
Those who have coronary artery disease could have the last laugh as they can potentially suffer a heart attack.
Points to ponder when you laugh! Should you stop laughing…nops; rather be happy and laugh than laugh (forcefully or artificially) to be happy.
