Grapefruit: new treatment in preventing heart attacks
Citrus fruit and particularly grapefruit contain a molecule called flavonoid that may pave the way for development of new generation of drugs that will be cheaper, easier to produce and safer (less toxic).
Flavonoids are known to reduce inflammation in the artery thus preventing deposition of cholesterol-laden plaque known to cause heart attacks.
This also means that consumption of citrus fruits like lemons, oranges and grapefruit will be helpful in preventing heart attacks.
