Goodness of olive oil

Olive oil is favourite amongst the health conscious because:

  • It reduces cholesterol levels in the blood and hence is known to be a heart-friendly oil.
  • Is gentle on the stomach and helps keep in check growth of gallstones and stomach ulcers.
  • When heated, reacts with free chemicals and becomes hydrogenated to produce harmful trans-fatty acids. Hence avoid deep frying. Use for shallow cooking. Ideally eaten raw with salads or any other compatible preparation.
  • Olive oil is known to lower blood sugar level.
