Fruits and vegetables to prevent depression
Isn’t it unimaginable that fruits and vegetables could prevent depression.
A new study reports that eating a Mediterranean diet or any other healthy dietary pattern comprising of fruits, vegetables, legumes and nuts (FVLN) is associated with prevention of depression.
Lead researcher Almudena Villegas from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain said, ‘we wanted to understand what role nutrition plays in mental health, as we believe certain dietary patterns could protect our minds. These diets are all associated with physical health benefits and now we find that they could have a positive effect on our mental health’.
Even if your preferred eating habit is junk food, including FVLN will help achieve a good mental health.
