Food labels help make healthy choices
A study has revealed that food labels make people eat healthier.
David Levitsky, co-author of the study said that the study is one of the few definitive studies that demonstrates that labels depicting calories and fat content in food products results in a reduction in calories and fat content purchased.
Reading labels and buying food products leads to a 7% reduction of calories and fat purchased per week.
On one hand the food industry uses temptations to increase consumption while on the other labels can resist the consumer overcome these temptations and thus lead to reduced caloric intake that help them manage overweight and obesity issues and make healthy food choices.
