Diluted apple juice for dehydration in kids
Kids suffering from mild gastroenteritis and dehydration will benefit by being given diluted apple juice instead of electrolyte drinks to replace fluid losses, according to finding published in Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA).
Medical scientists from the University of Calgary in Canada found that children with mild gastroenteritis and minimal dehydration had fewer treatment failures when offered diluted apple juice compared with children who received electrolyte maintenance solution to replace fluid losses. Kids who received diluted apple juice also did not require intravenous fluids or hospitalization.
