Diet drinks increases waistline
Diet drinks are popular during summers to quench thirst. The mistaken belief is that because they are ‘diet’ drinks they prevent weight gain or even help you lose weight.
A new study done at University of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio has shown that diet drinks actually cause weight gain and blood sugar spikes.
Helen Hazuda who presented the study says ‘They may be free of calories, but not of consequences’. The findings show that there is a 70 percent increase in waist size compared to those who do not drink diet drinks.
It may well be good to quench the thirst with plain chilled water rather than consume any diet drink.
