Diabetes linked to artificial sweeteners
People those who have diabetes usually take artificial sweeteners to reduce their sugar intake in order to manage their blood sugar levels.
A new research now suggests that consuming artificial sweeteners might increase the risk of developing type-2 diabetes.
The study , conducted by professors at the University of Adelaide, looked at whether ingesting significant amounts of artificial sweeteners would affect the body’s ability to control glucose levels in the blood.
Tests on 27 people showed those who consumed artificial sweeteners had damaged their body’s ability to manage glucose, which could lead to type-2 diabetes in the long run.
More studies will confirm if it really is a concern to be taking artificial sweeteners to manage blood sugar levels in diabetics.
