Coffee may prevent premature death
Did you know that the world consumes 2.25 cups of coffee everyday. Such a number needs research to ascertain if it is beneficial or not to have coffee.
A study has found that people who drank a moderate amount of coffee (fewer than five cups per day) experienced a lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease, neurological diseases, type 2 diabetes and suicide.
The investigation utilized data from 74,890 women in the Nurses’ Health Study and 93,054 from the Nurses’ Health Study 2, plus 40,557 men from the Health Professionals Follow-up Study.
Information regarding dietary habits was also collected from questionnaires every 4 years and the participants were followed up to a maximum of 30 years.
The study’s lead author, Dr. Ming Ding, say, ‘Bioactive compounds in coffee reduce insulin resistance and systematic inflammation They might be responsible for the inverse association between coffee and mortality.”
In another study, Dr. Frank Hu, says, ‘Regular consumption of coffee can be included as part of a healthy, balanced diet. However, certain populations such as pregnant women and children should be cautious about high caffeine intake from coffee or other beverages.’
