Cloves for toothache

Cloves

Toothache pain ranges from throbbing to excruciating, but only a good dentist can alleviate the pain quickly. If you can’t get to a dentist right away, the wait can prove agonizing and you may try cloves.

Cloves contain eugenol, a chemical compound widely used as an analgesic and local anesthetic, particularly in dentistry. Clove oil provides the greatest benefit for toothaches, but you can get the same numbing effect from whole cloves.

Place a few cloves in your mouth until they soften; then bruise them between the non-painful tooth to release its pain-relieving oil. Keep the crushed clove for about 30 minutes on the painful tooth and repeat it several times until you see a dentist.
