Chia seeds (sabja) as an energizing food
Feeling tired in the morning, afternoon or evening? Perhaps you are not eating the right foods. Instead of reaching out to a candy bar or a coffee, one of the foods that can bring energy into you is the chia (or sabja in Hindi) seeds.
Eating the right food helps keep your energy levels up in a sustained way, and not like a spike and crash as happens with caffeine and sugar.
Chia seeds has been a staple food around since 3500 BC The seeds were found in the diets of the Aztecs and Mayans. In fact, chia got its name from the Mayan word for ‘strength.’
Chia seeds are considered to be magical because of their ability to increase stamina and energy over long periods of time.
The chia seeds also have a reputation of being a superfood.
It helps fight fatigue. One tablespoon of the seeds provides 5 grams of protein and omega-3 fatty acids enough to help fight inflammation and keep muscles in good shape.
It also has magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, and the antioxidant quercetin, which has been shown to help with athletic performance and recovery.
Roast and grind it in a mixer and add in daal, curd (yogurt), oatmeal, baked goods, etc. It can be chewed raw (or better still after roasting it) or taken as faluda (an Indian cold drink) too.
