Bad foods – world’s biggest cause of death
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, who is well known for his television shows and campaign against the use of processed foods in schools says, ‘Sadly, in the next 18 minutes when I do our chat, 4 Americans that are alive will be dead, from the food that they eat.‘
Some interesting points Jamie Oliver makes:
- Today, diet-related diseases are the biggest sources of death in Western countries.
- For the first time in modern history, children will have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.
- U.S. schools consider pizza and French fries as ‘vegetables.’
- The milk (and other foods) that kids get served at school is loaded with sugar.
- Kids are at school 180 days out of the year, where they are served horrible foods that make them sick.
In Western countries, diet related diseases kill more people than murder, war, terrorism, accidents and all others combined.
Overweight, obesity, type II diabetes, heart disease, strokes, dementia and many types of cancer are all strongly diet-related.
Although some of these diseases have been around for a while, they have never been seen in such epidemic proportions.
Millions of people die each year, because of the bad foods that they are eating. This is a global problem that affects all of us… ourselves, our children and so on.
This development shows no signs of slowing down yet…it will only get worse.
Jamie has a suggestion, though:
‘I wish for everyone to help create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.’
