Air pollution increases risk of miscarriage by 50%

Researchers from Beijing, China have concluded that air pollution can increase a pregnant woman’s likelihood of miscarriage by 50%.

Published in the journal Nature Sustainability, the researchers analysed the records of more than a quarter of a million pregnant women living in the Chinese capital between 2009 and 2017 to arrive at the conclusion.

Earlier, a study published had found black carbon particles on the foetal side of the placenta in women who were exposed to air pollution during pregnancy.

Women working in polluting factories having poor HSE management systems should also be careful as it is the same polluted air that they will breathe in addition to specific pollutants being formed by the factory!
