Blood test can now detect Dementia

A simple blood test could be able to identify if someone is at risk of dementia….much before symptoms of dementia develop.

The hallmark of living healthy and longer are the 150 gene markers. Higher gene scores are associated with better mental ability, kidney function and longevity over 12 years while low scores linked with Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Doug Brown, Alzheimer’s Society director said, ‘This research could help in our quest to find new treatments by identifying people who are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s so that they can participate in the clinical trials’.
