High BMI in young Indian women
A study has indicated that 86% of young women in India have a body mass index (BMI) above normal. The pan India study was done in 10 metros and non-metros, highlighting that obesity could emerge as a risk contributing to heart diseases in the young Indian women.
Added to this is the fact that 89% of women who had higher ‘bad’ (LDL) cholesterol also had higher BMI while 78% had a broad waistline indicating higher belly fat.
All this – high LDL, high BMI and high belly fat have a multiplier effect in contributing to heart diseases in women.
It is high time the young Indian women wakes up and takes charge of her health to prevent heart attacks and strokes in future.
