Sunflower seeds can be fattening if taken in uncontrolled amounts. This is because they pack a lot of fat and calorie even in small amounts that you might take. Eat the one’s that have been dried; avoiding the fried seeds.
If you notice a weight gain after starting to eat sunflower seeds it means you need to reduce the amount you are having.
If eaten in moderation, however, and they can be a healthy part of a balanced diet. The sunflower seeds also contain fiber. The fat in the sunflower seeds is polyunsaturated and hence heart friendly.
The kernels (inside of the seed after removing the shell or hull) are high in B vitamins and minerals like copper and magnesium.
One way to have them is take a handful of the sunflower seeds 2 or 3 times a week and chew them as a mid-morning meal; the other could be to sprinkle a tablespoonful of it in the breakfast cereals.
