Low blood pressure – what to do
Low blood pressure is not always a sign of a problem. It can be disturbing as it makes you weak and dizzy. But your doctor could uncover the cause, if any, by doing some tests.
In general, you could do the following, while a cause for your low BP is being found.
- Increase slightly the salt content in diet.
- Have plenty of fluids.
- Avoid alcohol in any form.
- Let your doctor evaluate any medicines you are taking to see if any of them are causing your symptoms.
- Be active to promote blood flow.
- Stand up slowly when getting out of a chair bed.
- Elevate the head-end of your bed while sleeping at night.
- Follow any other customized advice your doctor might give.
