Liver fibrosis: Vitamin D may help
Liver fibrosis occurs in most types of chronic liver diseases. There is excessive accumulation of tough, fibrous scar tissue.
In an experiment conducted in mouse, a study found that Calcipotriol, a synthetic form of Vitamin D deactivates the switch governing the fibrotic response in mouse liver cells.
Further studies are required to conclude if Calcipotriol will help manage liver fibrosis in humans.
