Online temperature (TempTraq) monitoring during fever
In a Consumer Electronics Show held at Las Vegas, USA, one of the innovations was a device that can keep a constant eye on temperature, but without disturbing the sick, be it a child or an adult. Blue Spark Technologies built a digital thermometer called the TempTraq.
The thermometer strip attaches to the skin via a mild adhesive that’s completely safe for even for kids. A low-power Bluetooth then transmits temperature details to a proprietary Android/iOS smartphone app.
TempTraq and the app then display both real time and historical temperature transmitted from the patch in graphical and data table views. This is useful to the doctors as they can see fluctuations in temperature and quickly modify treatment.
TempTraq has been tested to the ASTM E1112-00 standard as is required for all clinical digital thermometers.
Currently, each disposable patch that works for just 24 hours costs $25 (Rs. 1,700), but is a small price to pay for the health and comfort of your dear ones.
